John Heath, Sr.
Director of Maintenance and General Manager, Maine Aero Services
With over three decades of hands-on experience, John Heath, Sr., brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his role as Director of Maintenance and General Manager at Maine Aero Services. His journey in aviation began in the late 1980s and early 1990s, working under the guidance of Keith Strange at Riverside Aviation in Lincoln, Maine. Keith, his high school shop teacher, not only mentored John but also ignited his lifelong passion for aircraft maintenance.
John’s professional qualifications include an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, along with specialized training in servicing Cessna Caravan and Cessna Corvalis aircraft, Wipaire floats, and Quest/Daher Kodiak 100s. His deep technical expertise enables him to oversee a diverse range of maintenance operations, from 100-hour and annual inspections to complex modifications and upgrades.
He has worked at the facility since 1996, John has witnessed and contributed to its growth and reputation as a premier service provider. Taking on the role of Director of Maintenance in early 2014, he has built strong relationships with customers and vendors alike, ensuring the highest standards of care and service. He values the opportunity to work with clients from around the globe, embracing the challenges and rewards of maintaining a wide variety of aircraft.
John’s favorite aspect of his job is the camaraderie with his colleagues and the sense of community within the workplace. For him, Maine Aero Services is more than a job, it’s a home away from home.
When he’s not at the hangar, John immerses himself in hobbies that reflect his passion for aviation and mechanics. He enjoys exploring unique aircraft museums, attending air shows, and hitting the open road on his motorcycle, often accompanied by a close group of friends. John is also an avid enthusiast of antique muscle cars and trucks, finding joy in their restoration. Additionally, he enjoys target shooting, hunting, and spending time outdoors.
John’s dedication to his craft, his team, and his customers embodies the spirit of Maine Aero Services, making him a cornerstone of the company’s success.
